Worldwide LTE Subscribers to Exceed 170 Million in 1Q 2014 as Top 3 Operators Account for 52% of Total Subscribers: MIC

America remains the biggest LTE subscriber market.

According to MIC Worldwide Mobile Subscriber database, worldwide LTE subscribers will reach the 170-million milestone in 1Q 2014. There are 225 operators in 98 countries with LTE networks up and running, according to Taiwan's MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute), an ICT industry research institute based in Taipei.

Highlights of MIC Worldwide Mobile Subscriber database’s latest LTE research findings include:

Europe:

  • 84 commercial LTE networks deployed in 34 countries.
  • More than 9.4 million LTE subscribers (February 2014)
  • UK EE’s subscribers exceeded 2 million and UK Vodafone’s reached 0.5 million in February 2014

America:

  • 53 commercial LTE networks deployed in 16 countries.
  • 84.3 million LTE subscribers with 50.5% of worldwide share. (February 2014)
  • Verizon’s LTE subscriber surpassed 42.7 million and AT&T’s reached 25.4 million in 4Q 2013.

Asia:

  • 47 commercial LTE networks deployed in 23 countries.
  • 66.1 million LTE subscribers with 39.6% of worldwide share. (February 2014)
  • LTE subscribers in Japan exceeded 31 million while Korea’s hit 28 million in 4Q 2013.
